IOM EVENING SERIES MAY 2021 It was a bright, breezy and somewhat chilly evening at the lake on 4th May. But four intrepid helmsmen did battle in a series of close fought and highly entertaining races. It was Ralph Weller who had the edge in the gusty conditions he loves. SPRING IOM CHAMPIONSHIP April Edition It was a character building day at the lake today, with yachts struggling to sail under control despite all sporting small “C” rigs in winds often significantly over 20 knots. Inevitably, there was a fair amount of attrition as most boats suffered minor or for some, even major failures at some point. IOM AUTUMN EVENING SERIES. Four skippers and one dog got together for a mini series on Tuesday last The results shoe that Graeme Harris (41) was clearly in control, Ralph Weller (85) was clearly distracted by his dog whilst Dave Morris (37) and Keith Simmons (78) had a very, very close battle for second place, only being separated by Dave’s one bullet! DMBC DF65 AUTUMN CHAMPIONSHIP SEPTEMBER EDITION Competitors were blessed with fine and blustery weather for the September round of the DF65 Championship. Race Officer Dave Morris organised the racing in our now established “Covid Safe” format which allowed plenty of close racing for the five entrants. It was great to see new racer Neil Dunkley (45) bringing years of full size sailing and race organisation experience to the world of radio sailing and he quickly showed that he is a fast learner. Tuesday evening 8th September

Yesterday afternoon the previously planned IOM evening series finally came to be .Due to the Covid crisis this would of been already in existence . I am pleased to say that we had 4 helms take up the evenings racing on what was a splendid sunny afternoon with enough wind to get things going .We, as a class initially had a problem in getting a RO for the job, but Barbara Morley stepped in to run the racing with some minor assistance from myself. The 1 minute and `back to back racing` format which is now our regular start mode ,what[…]
