DMBC DF65 AUTUMN CHAMPIONSHIP SEPTEMBER EDITION
Competitors were blessed with fine and blustery weather for the September round of the DF65 Championship.
Race Officer Dave Morris organised the racing in our now established “Covid Safe” format which allowed plenty of close racing for the five entrants.
It was great to see new racer Neil Dunkley (45) bringing years of full size sailing and race organisation experience to the world of radio sailing and he quickly showed that he is a fast learner. One or two setup glitches handicapped his results but a second place in race six was proof of his promise.
Ralph Waller (485) was returning to the class in a borrowed boat and made eventual winner Keith Simmons work for every point. Ralph has real talent for getting to the windward mark first when the going got really flukey.
Peter Knightly (778) and David Brook (595) were nip and touch all day, with David seeming to enjoy the windier weather.
Thanks go out to Dave Morris for organising the day and to Graeme Harris helping tidy away at the finish.
