SPRING IOM CHAMPIONSHIP April Edition
It was a character building day at the lake today, with yachts struggling to sail under control despite all sporting small “C” rigs in winds often significantly over 20 knots.
Inevitably, there was a fair amount of attrition as most boats suffered minor or for some, even major failures at some point.
Despite this, racing was close as well as wild and it was interesting to see two wooden boats showing strongly at the front.
As numbers dwindled from 9 down to 3, it was Graeme Harris with the most consistent display that took the honours.
Many thanks to everyone who helped make this a successful and enjoyable day, in particular Barbara Varker, for her role as scorer.
Overall a very well tempered, safe and enjoyable day that was exactly what makes model yacht racing such a great pastime.
